Sacramento Wine Country Tours
Sacramento is the capital of the state of California, and has a history dating back to 1839, making it a popular tourist attraction. Sacramento started from smaller communities that grew together, unlike other metropolitan cities. To keep the historical and cultural heritage alive, Sacramento went under a $68 million mammoth restoration, which included bringing back the authenticity of the Capitol and its surrounding twenty-three acres. The city has a unique geography, about fifty-three historic buildings, an eventful calendar year, and is home to the largest jazz festival held annually, thus attracting over five million visitors every year. It has the largest interpretive and most visited museum of its kind in North America.
Today, the Sacramento region extends west from Davis and Woodland to the town of Auburn, and to vacation spots in the Sacramento River Delta. One of the things tourists are surprised to find out is that Sacramento is known as the city of trees because of its enormous wealth of trees.
Going on a Sacramento wine tour is a unique experience and can easily fill up a whole vacation. The wine country tour is informative and full of fun. You can begin the tour with a stroll at the Capitol Park, which has impressive monuments and memorials, along with plants and trees from all over the world. From there, you can take a quick drive past the Stanford mansion, which is now a historic landmark, and was home to thirteen Californian Governors, the last being Ronald Regan. Then, in the afternoon, you can schedule a drive through the vast valley region of Lodi, which has large wineries and an exclusive wine tasting experience.
Lodi, which is home to over 75,000 acres of vineyards and over fifty wineries, is becoming increasingly popular, as it is less crowded and less expensive than other similar regions in California. It is blessed with warm summer days and cool nights, so you can sit back and relax while enjoying the scenic beauty of the wine country. After which, you can visit a new destination called the Lodi Wine and Visitor Center, which has an expansive tasting bar, interesting and educational exhibits, and a gift shop. The Wine and Visitor Center is open daily from ten to five.
The next stop is a must-visit to the Woodbridge Winery, which has been making fine wines for the last twenty-five years, and is one of the oldest winemaking areas of California. After establishing the Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi came to Lodi in 1966, looking for a place to produce quality wine for people to enjoy with every meal. Woodbridge has grown from making a few blends to thirteen varieties. Today, it produces 8 million cases of wine each year. A tour at Woodbridge includes public and private tours of the winery showcasing the state-of-the-art facility, and also events that are held around the year. The tours include tasting at a wine bar, with information given about the climatic influences on wine, and identification of similar aromas, then lunch, comprising of an exclusive selection of meats accompanied with the perfect wine, followed with California farmstead and artisan cheese.
As evening approaches, one can enjoy the culturally diverse Californian cuisine at Sacramento restaurants. From casual dining, or a romantic dinner just for two, to a business luncheon, Sacramento restaurants offer plenty of variety, ambience, and beautiful views overlooking the Sacramento River.
The Sacramento Wine Country Tour is a walk through time, with ageless history and aging wine. It leaves us with memories of beauty and aromas that beckon us to return here time after time.
